Ever Been Scammed?
This week’s episode of “You Are A LOT” (an ADHD/AuDHD podcast) dropped Monday, 3/10/25, on your favorite podcast app like Apple Podcasts or Spotify, or click here for more listening options.
So, recording this episode stung a little because I am proud of being neurodivergent. Our pattern recognition skills? Superior! We’re the ones who guess the movie ending before the opening credits are even over. The moment we walk into a room, we feel the energy and know exactly how the night will go. And let’s not forget our gift of spotting red flags before the rest of the world even notices a hint of beige.
But research shows that people with ADHD, AuDHD, and Autism can actually be more vulnerable to scams and manipulative groups. It’s because distractible people are prime targets for online scams. I’ll be honest. I fell for one. Last month, I got a scam text about an “extra charge” on a rental car, and—without a second thought—I handed over my credit card info. Whoops.
EPISODE 38: SUSCEPTIBLE TO CULTS & SCAMS?
In this episode: Did you know that ADHD/AuDHD Humans have a bigger chance of being drawn into cults, MLM’s and other sketchy setups? I explain why we are targets (hint: our impulsivity, need for community, and outsider feelings) and talk about how to spot red flags.
